Those paraphrased words were what the President recently about Republicans who are trying to figure out a way (short of impeachment, because they believe that would make them lose the upcoming election) to stop a rogue POTUS who is hell bent on ignoring the separation of powers. But for me, the comment should be about Israel. I just spent the last hour reading about people threatening Jewish reporters with death, ISIS and it’s awesome video of death to recruit other psychopaths who want to kill other Muslims in the name of Allah or something. Why do I emphasize other Muslims? Because the bleeding hearts in this country have rushed to condemn Israel’s defensive actions as genocide, even as Israel is ringing up homes and dropping fliers to warn civilians of impending bombs. And yet, when ISIS puts forth a video in which they shoot defenseless Muslims in the back of the head after making them cower in fear and claim fealty, crickets. No protests in Paris, no harsh editorials of condemnation, nothing. Zip, zilch, nada. ISIS is busting up mosques (only those of the wrong kind of Muslims), warning Christians to convert or die and the same Left condemning Israel stands around at their cocktail parties and dismisses Iraq as “so 2005” and “over” because Dear Leader declared it so.
And our President is useless. Our Secretary of State is a joke. In a speech in Kansas City, the President of the United States called on Republicans to “stop hatin’ all the time”.
You know what? If he directed that sentiment to all the Muslims and others who spend their days despising Israel and Jews and wish the utter destruction of both it might mean something. But he doesn’t and he won’t, and I’d like to know why. I’m tired of “leadership” that won’t say, “hating Israel and the Jews simply because they exist is savagery” instead of this:
Lame-O. Israel is a Jewish nation. A religious nation. Maybe that’s the issue. If it is, I have a question for the rabid “Palestinians need their own State!” crowd. Do you really think a Palestinian state will be anything but a fully Muslim country? Shariah law and all that? Why is THAT religious state, run by a religion that regularly subjugates women, kills gays, and rather intolerantly kills or destroys anything or anyone who disagrees with it, a noble goal, and yet Israel’s existence is unreasonable? Please make me understand the double standard here. I don’t hate all Muslims. I do however hate what many Muslims seem to believe and are proud to stand for. But the hatred leveled at Israel makes no such distinctions. All Jews are evil, Israel must be destroyed and the Final Solution must be employed. And lest you think it’s only Islamists raging against the Zionist machine, I ask you one more question. Where are the “moderate” American Muslims demanding that Hamas recognize Israel’s right to exist? In the Middle East, governments in Saudi Arabia and Egypt are backing a cease fire that grants nothing to Hamas and everything to Israel, but please don’t take this as a sign they are now super excited about Israel as a neighbor. They are afraid of Islamists spreading their poison to their respective countries and it outweighs their distaste for the Jews. So in this case, we have strange bedfellows. But where are the American Muslims demanding Hamas recognize Israel? Where are the calls for the end of rocket attacks, a return to peace talks, anything? Oh wait, they are too busy threatening a Jewish reporter. See the link in the first paragraph.
I am not so naive as to think that the US of A can solve the Arab-Jew conundrum. But perhaps if we were more forceful in asking the simple questions of why the hatred is so strong, and calling it what it really is, the shift in public opinion would move towards the country which shares our ideals and our love of life. Osama Bin Laden said the difference between them and us was that we love life, and they love death. By not standing up forcefully, loudly and consistently, we are giving our tacit approval to the culture of death embraced by Hamas. At least when it comes to the Jews.
